Meets requirements of IEEE Standard No. 32
A grounding transformer is used to provide a ground path to a delta or underground "Y" connection system. Grounding is one of the most important aspects of electrical design and as such, Niagara Transformer manufactures grounding transformers with exceedingly high safety, durability and performance standards.
Grounding transformers are typically used for:
ñ Providing a relatively low impedance path to ground, which allows for maintaining a system neutral to or near ground potential
ñ Limiting the magnitude of transient over voltages when striking ground faults occur
ñ Providing a source of ground fault current during line-to-ground faults
ñ Permitting the connection of phase to neutral loads when desired
Our grounding transformers are manufactured with either a Zig Zag or Wye connection depending on a customer's needs. Other grounding transformer specifications include special BIL ratings and ohms/phase, hazardous area classifications and either 60 or 50 Hz per transformer. All grounding transformers from Niagara Transformer meet requirements of IEEE Standard No. 32.
